The presents are stacked to mid-tree level and the stockings are overflowing. I've just laid the urns of cocoa and coffee on the table along with the fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and pumpkin bread. The smells of Christmas are swirling around the sounds of children and relatives still in slight sleep in their crowded beds or make-shift pallets.
