winkgirl4's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-

Seven years and several hours ago, I sat and watched four planes and three buildings fall. I, then, like many others around me, muddled my way through a work day in a state of absolute dis-belief. I finished that day at the sides of family members- trying to help each other make sense of what had happened. Moreover, I tried to offer "sense" to a little, five-year-old boy who had more questions than I had answers. We wondered how this could happen. He wondered how those images weren't just the latest in Hollywood special effects.
That day is as much a blur of emotions today as it was seven years ago. In a matter of minutes, our world got very, very small.

I've watched the televised tributes and the "Remember When" pieces that have been playing non-stop this week and (thanks to a friend) I've also listened to Keith Olbermann's take on what that day (and the subsequent anniversaries) have meant to many of the people in this country.
